Antiquing, and Yahtzee does history!

Been playing around with the IBM Model 25, I transposed a few numbers, and it actually has a 20MB hard drive, not a 50MB hard drive. It also came with IBM PC-Dos 4.00, which had some interesting bugs, particularly when working with the last 5MB of the hard drive.
So, I had some fun with MS-DOS kermit and a null model cable and backup up the entire thing. I also made a boot diskette with the necessary tools to reload it with PC-DOS/MS-DOS 4.00 if I wanted to.
So I hunted down a set of 720k 3.5" install images for MS-DOS 5.00, which I know works well on the Model 30 and Model 25, and installed that instead. It made quite a difference in the overall responsiveness and behavior. I then preceded to use Kermit to transfer a copy of the original Civilization over to the machine. While changing between internal game modes can be a little slow, it does run the game quite well now that it's on MS-DOS 5. Under DOS4, it would blow hard drive read errors on a regular basis, or refuse to change between game modes.

On another note, this is a very good video explaining what the heck Great Britain and the United Kingdom really are. Towards the end, it seems more like Yahtzee of the Escapist is doing the lesson.
